Participant Eligibility
Hot Flash Study EligibilityPlease call the MBMR Lab at 254-296-0824 if you are at all interested in participating. Our staff will talk with you about your experiences, symptoms, and prior treatment to determine if you are eligible to participate in the study. If you are not currently eligible, there is still a possibility that you could participate in the study after a period of time depending on the treatments you are currently receiving. The following criteria are solely a guideline and we encourage you to call us regarding your participation even if you are unsure of whether or not you meet criteria. Participants are eligible if: 1. Post-Menopausal as defined by: - No menstrual period in the past 12 months; or - No menstrual period in the past 6 months, and a medically documented history of FSH level greater than 40; or - Has had a bilateral oophorectomy. (If women have had a hysterectomy and still have their ovaries intact, they must meet the FSH criteria described above.) 2. Self-reported history of a minimum of 7 hot flashes per day or 50 hot flashes per week. (If you are unsure of the number of hot flashes you are currently having, please call us and we will provide you with tools to help you monitor and record your hot flash frequency and severity.) 3. Have discontinued other putative therapies for hot flashes (such as hormones, black cohosh, etc.) for at least one month prior to enrollment. (If you are currently receiving other putative therapies, we can conduct a "washout" period prior to enrolling you in the study for treatment.) |
